488295 2006-09-30 06:44:00 Anyone have experience of radios that I can connect to my wireless bb setup?
I'd like to have a radio I can move around the house and listen to BBC or ABC programmes (including 'listen again services').
Thanks

488296 2006-09-30 10:17:00 itunes is great - 932 streams at last count :)

Real Player isn't too bad either.

488297 2006-09-30 10:17:00 You can't just transmit it from your computer, you need a modulator-transmitter interface and an FM receiver, so you use an FM modulator to radiate the FM signal in your home, then pick it up on any portable FM radio.

Jaycar have two suitable products:

Good = Cat AR-3110 @$44.95

Better = Cat AR-3115 @ $71.95

Cheers :)

P.S. Don't have the wrong idea that Internet radio only works with Broadband Internet! Radio stations offering bit rates of up to 32K can be streamed perfectly well without a hitch on dial-up connections.

488299 2006-09-30 21:15:00 RadioTower is my favourite but sometimes I use this one:

488301 2006-09-30 23:47:00 di.fm and http:
Both of these are run by the same company (DigitallyImported Inc.) and offer 24KBits/sec AAC+ v2 streams, 96KBits/sec MP3 streams, and 32KBits/sec WMA streams. Servers have so much capacity it's not funny - I have yet to strike a full server. di.fm is dance music, mostly trance/techno etc. sky.fm is more general.

488303 2006-10-01 03:16:00 Thanks for the replies - but I was obviously not being clear. What I'm looking for is advice on hardware - a wifi radio set. The only one I've come across is by a UK company called Accoustic Energy but I don't know if they sell in NZ.

488304 2006-10-01 03:50:00 Billy T gave you the answer. The devices he listed will transmit the radio audio from the PC to any FM radio receiver, or stereo.

The audio quality is excellent, especially when transmitted to a good stereo.
The range is reasonable. I find it works fine throughout the house.

Useful too in the car for transmitting from portable mp3 players to the car stereo.
