2006-10-10 04:16:00 | Ive been experiencing random bursts in speed up to 5mbits to ihugs servers, so I had a look at my router status. Sync has changed from 4288/160kbps to 6656/160kbps so it might be possible that all Ihug customers will get the speed upgrades automatically (im on the Light plan).. I guess it's expected though.

2006-10-11 10:17:00 | Yea, just checked work router and it has changed from the 3.5MB download & 512k upload to 7620k down & 800k up! Still on the old speed though as shown by doing a test at http://www.speedtest.net. Maybe going to change on the 26th of October as well??

2006-10-11 10:22:00 | if my router is showing downstream of around 2650kbps on the 3.5mb ihug plan, does that mean my router (DSE XH1169) cant support higher speed or something to do with my phone line? Coz it has always been around 2500-2700kbps... Thanks ^_^ | lavitia (11200) | |
2006-10-11 11:40:00 | My Router (IHUG Medium) is reporting 7616 Kbps down, 160 kbps up now. But actual download speeds still 3.5 Mbps. Ah but yet to kill that interleaving...

2006-10-11 19:32:00 | there has been quite a bit of exchange maintenance in christchurch, so maybe the higher speeds will be more of a reality. Shame i will lose a few mbits because of distance, but 750KB/s will do me fine haha. I think you can find out the theoretical speed by: data sync rate - 15% overhead

Coz it has always been around 2500-2700kbps... Thanks ^_^ Have you ever called ihug to make sure you're on the 3.5Mbit plan? Because it sounds like you haven't been switched to a faster plan if your router is reporting that speed. |

2006-10-12 01:51:00 | For some reason when I go to the speedtest.co.nz the ihug and the orcon ones dont work. Even when I set myself up behind a proxy on my webserver in the US they still dont, only the USA ones.. Still, I got 680KB/s which Im pretty happy with :D For real-world testing I usually just jump to gaim.sf.net and download the latest windows binary which is about 6MB from the OptusNet server, gives a good indication of speeds from across the ditch :) ..but thats just me.
