2006-10-09 06:42:00 | Was just trying to play the flash game in Greg's thread and it got me thinking... What's the most annoying program you've installed? Here's a few that I've dealt with: CorelDraw- has an auto update feature that pops up every 15 days (at the most), only way to get rid of it is too download an uninstall program for the updater. Quicktime- steals associations for files like .tif and just won't give 'em back. If you want to open a file in a different program you have to uninstall Quicktime (doesn't matter if it's not a video/audio file, you're still sc**wed). Messenger- it's hell to stop accessing the net when you install it (well, you have to install it) and seems like endless clicks on different tabs to get it to shut up. Flash- yep, hate flash pages with a vengence, especially those 'upmarket' sites that have a Flash intro and no way around it, what's so hard about a little link that says ''skip intro"? And then there's Telecom/Xtra's flash based new price page... what could be hard about sticking up a plain old HTML price list? Post your rants here>

2006-10-09 07:25:00 | My shutdown program... :D The_End_Of_Reality (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) wanted sooo many features added on. Got them all in, bar one which can be easily done. Then there is ATI display drivers. To use them, you need to install the .Net Framework. Which slows the comp down noticably.

2006-10-09 07:47:00 | I'm dissapointed, there wasn't a poll! Too many options for a poll. I can't think of anything too annoying on my computer, but the most annoying legit program I've seen on anyone's computer is Mcafee Antivirus - more ads than a lot of spyware

2006-10-09 07:56:00 | Well besides Nortons :D ... Outlook is pretty damn wierd. It has options buried all over the place and the huge .PST files people end up are a real pain. | gibler (49) | |
2006-10-09 08:02:00 | I dump anything that annoys me, apart from Adobe reader. Bloated crap, hard to find the complete install files, always trying to download updates, jumps into startup. And if you ignore the updates sooner rather then later you stumble upon a document or 2 that wont display properley. Plus the latest couple of versions don't support W98, for no reason. Aside from that, any and every program that installs into startup, takes over file associations, and wants to download updates everytime you launch it. But especially Java which loves to cache malicious code, Quicktime/iTunes and any other crapola Apple software,Creative drivers (well, the drivers are a tiny part of the install, The full creative suite is probally bigger then w98 and with more bugs) The nVidia video drivers are getting to the point of DIE DIE DIE as well, 2 or 3 items in startup and a couple of services installed into the background, and if you dont go the extra mile to kill them all off then they all re-apear on the next boot.
