490350 2006-10-12 10:51:00 I don't like the way it adds certain services and things which are not nessecary and entrirely dodgy. Agent_24 (57)

490352 2006-10-12 17:38:00 I intensely dislike anything that is bundled...either as an opsys or in an add-on like RealPlayer or ActiveX components.

Originally I hated Bonzi Buddy...the grape ape that really killed me from ever doing THAT again...and then there was WebShots and the so-called security wonks called Norton/Symentec/McAfee.

Right now I am having a small matter of RealMessenger trying to access my screen with "news that I just have to have" from them. I needed to install RP for just one instance...but I won't again and have written a few blistering tirades to the site that required RP for their player to work. It seems my real dislike is for them to assume that I am dumb enough to actually allow these things to go unchallenged after I told them NO in no uncertain terms to their package.

The list of dislikes would indeed be long...a few

RealPlayer
America OnLine anything! Including NetScape.
WildTangent
AIM
IE
Norton/Symantec/McAfee
WebTV

Now, there's always the annoying Holier-than-thou's who bray with "My opsys is better than yours" and "Linux rules, all others are junk" and "What're ya...dumb? Linux/Windows is for idiots".

See? Although opsys-bashing is not the question of the hour, it ranks right up there as a drag.

We all have an annoyance factor that tips us at our favorite or most hated windmill. Gentle persuasion is so much better than a gauntlet across the chin or a lance up one's tailpipe.

Thoroughly agree SJ . Well phrased . We need less negative comments .

For a very short while when I was a lot younger I sold encyclopedias (very embarrassing to have to admit :o :o ) . One thing that I always remember that was positive about it was that we were told not to slag off the competition . In fact we said nice things about rival encyclopedias . I use Windows all the time and have not enough grey matter to stretch to learning Linux based systems . I think however that they fulfil a very useful role but it is self defeating for some (not all) of their users to slag off at Windows :illogical . Same goes for Mac users :illogical

Um SurferJoe, that's a cute frownie-type thing ;)

And no, I've already done enough slagging-off of a certain opsys . . . I'll gladly put my hand up that :badpc:

Although the thread could be seen as negative, the postings so far have given me a few more ideas on on what train wrecks to avoid . . .

There's nothing so much fun as being informed before you go ahead and screw up

Except then we are in the horrible position of thinking "Excellent, that worked.... now what else can I do to it?", and then having the whole thing crash down about our ears after going one step too far.

490359 2006-10-13 06:32:00 firefox is a crash-box and paint is the same as it was in the day of win3.1 thus shoing its out of date and it lacks the ability to downsize the image below 100% techiekid (7219)
