490740	2006-10-15 08:56:00	I always thought the Oddworld (abes exodus etc) was an excellent series, good ideas, although only a platform game it ruled. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best. Yesterday 12:20 AM lol, I still got that on ePSXe :cool: We need them to play the latest games. It's not our fault game developers like there games to look shiny more than they want them to play well. I guess at the end of the day it's about what makes them the most $ and it looks like shiny pretty things make more moolah. Exactly. One combines a great story, fantastic graphics and a large array of capital ships which literally are huge. i still have freespace2 lying around (for windows).. that game is awesome, and yes ships that are 6km long are very large when you are at one end and have to defend the other lol... VERY good game that. as for graphics cards, i think for many people buying the latest earns them bragging rights, as even a fx5600 can run FEAR i find buying in the $200-$250 bracket gives best value for money, and upgrades are not necessary for a reasonable length of time	motorbyclist (188)

VERY good game that . hehehe, I got both as well as the original Xwing and Duke Nukem 3D Atomic edition . And now that Freepsace is open source, they have made some real great improvements to the engine . And try and look the the FS2 mods Sol: A History as well as Inferno . 490746	2006-10-16 22:19:00	yes it can run it at a reasonable framerate, and you still get the penetrators steel pins stuck in people/walls. textures etc are down, but as i said way back at the start it is still fun, just as much as with all the "cool effects" the main reason i started this thread is to point out that "cool effects" are not neccessary for a game to be enjoyed. usually the ones with pretty effects but tedious/uninventive/downright boring gameplay are the ones you play for an hour or three and never touch again. eg FEAR single player. i am yet to attend a lan where there has been no attempt at starting a starcraft game or two.	motorbyclist (188)
