490063 2006-10-08 08:50:00 By the way I voted for "$50/mth. 7Mbps/256kbps. 15Gb data. (Assume internet can reach target speeds)" stu161204 (123)
490064 2006-10-08 08:58:00 who would want to go from 3.5M to 2M? Me... I am on a 3.5Mb plan... but I can only get 2Mb... so if I change plans I still get the same speed, while getting the benefits of the upload speed and cap The_End_Of_Reality (334)
490065 2006-10-08 09:04:00 imo, that almost a steep down for people who are on 3.5M, who would want to go from 3.5M to 2M?

Seeing as the price, cap and upload would all be better then current plans it would still be a step up, And I highly doubt there is any noticble difference when in use , Pages would still take the same amount of time to load, online games would be better due to the upload speed.

Large downloads would be quicker at 3.5, But heavy downloaders could always choose a different plan, as I said what I have put foward is what the very lowest plan should be, Not this 256k crap with a 200mb limit (god that disgusts me).

Anyhow, my current plan is only 256k, and for general use its pretty sweet, The only downside is trying to watch streaming media, which sucks.Otherwise pages snappy, Length of downloads doesn't bother me (because the alternative is dial-up,) and online gaming is sweet (provided Im selective about game and server)

Faster then dial-up but she sure aint nothing that could be described as broadband by anyone apart from the marketing department of Telecom. Imo is a disgrace that these plans are even on offer, especially at the prices and data-caps they bundle with them.

Id be pretty happy with 2mb as part of a reasonable package.

Yea, that's why I started this poll, to get an understanding of what people think about broadband speeds and plans...

IMO, the constant "ramping up" of speed serves no real purpose. So what if it's 7.6Mbps.. Assuming if we do get the full speed, even so, there's no much point in having that fast a speed anyway. What would be much more appealing to consumers like myself would be to have a reasonable fast speed (like 2Mbps), together with quite a large data cap, at a reasonable price......

BUT... Then again, quite alot of you guys voted the 7.6Mbps/256kbps plan (4th option).... Maybe there ARE quite a lot of "speed hungry" users out there???

**Plans are not supposed to be realistic btw... Just to highlight the different features that users would go after***

490068 2006-10-08 11:46:00 I reckon some reasonably cheap 2/512 stz with 20GB intl traffic and free nat. roddy_boy (4115)
490069 2006-10-08 13:02:00 2 GB/s down, 2 Gb/s up, unlimited bandwidth, free of charge would do nicely. What a ridiculous poll. Greg (193)

What a ridiculous post.

I myself just can't stand the artifical "crippling" of upload and download speeds, when it is the caps that are the problem. The whole "ramping up" thing is not anything but Telecom playing games and having "overloaded" exchanges. If ya are going to blow the cap then you may as well do it quickly so you can go do something else...
