713714 2008-10-21 20:52:00 TelstraClear has an "unmetered" promotion running where browsing Trademe and their video site does not count towards your monthly data cap.

Does anyone know if any of the other major ISPs offer similar schemes?

713715 2008-10-21 20:56:00 Yup Xnet does.

Downloads from gameplanet.co.nz dont count towards your data usage.

And using Itunes / the MS site / sites that use Akamai servers, dont count towards your data usage either. According to the Xnet site

This has been going on for a while, and applies to all Xnet users

No other ISP does this, as far as I am aware.

Apart from Xnet & TelstraClear they are the only two who do this (& TelstraClear offer is only for a short time only.)

More specifically http://gpdownloads . co . nz which is housed at Xnet (Gameplanet itself isn't) .

Akamai content is sort of a win/lose situation and I wouldn't bother with it . Why? Because it only caches certain files which are impossible to identify .

713719 2008-10-23 23:43:00 Also Xnet host the Recoil Steam servers - which I believe has a Steam content server, although I don't think it is complete.

Getting Steam to USE local servers though...
