713362 2008-10-20 05:12:00 I have 2 computers. One that runs xp pro but isnt connected to the net, and the other which is a laptop running vista home basic that is connected to the net.

Is there any way to download any updates for my xp machine and transfer them to my xp machine via a usb stick?

713363 2008-10-20 06:19:00 You may have to go to the MS site and download whatever files manually.

Then copy them to the USB flash drive, then install them on the other PC

Search for the KB of the file here (www.microsoft.com)

But then, if it isn't connected to the net, how would you know what updates to get?

It'll probably be better / easier if you network it to the laptop

d/l it and the updates for your OS then copy it to the other machine and run it.

They stopped the updates a while back but it seems to be up and running again now

713368 2008-10-20 08:30:00 If the xp is not connected to the net you don't need any updates other than SP2.
Mine has been on the net for 6 years without any updates, other than SP2.
