| 713351 | 2008-10-20 04:54:00 | i was interested in buying a VGNCS16 laptop as it was 'recommended' in the latest pcworld magazine. Checking the web sony website i saw the specs where different, so contacted sony, here is their reply. Thank you for contacting Sony NZ. It was brought to our attention that some specs listed by PC World review was incorrect after press release. Details like the unit having 2GB RAM and a 2.26GHz processor as printed on PC World review is incorrect. This has been clarified with the publishers of PC World. Please note that this unit comes with only 1GB RAM and a 2.16GHz processor, as indicated on our website. The VGN-CS16 is the one with 2GB RAM and a 2.26GHz processor. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. I'lld like to know what this does for its 'recommended' status as im looking for something under $1,200 for my parents. |

Which is the unit in the mag? . . . Anyway, there is NO noticeable difference between 2 . 16 and 2 . 26Ghz . . . . . and a 1Gb SO Dimm is only $70-$90 dollars . . . . . |

While I’m sure some personal bias comes in to it I expect a professional organisation such as pcworld to conduct product tests in such as way as to fairly evaluate the merits of the products independently of personal taste, therefore I hold a little more stock in such a review than in the opinions of strangers. | Boyd (14246) | ||

You shouldn't. They don't live with the laptops, and they don't test them after 18 months to see if they are still all working. Pctek (not that you should know this yet) :) is a PC tech (as the name suggests) with an awful lot of experience, and theres a lot of people on here, me included, that would agree with what was just said. Asus and Toshiba are good laptop brands, I own a Tosh and it's bulletproof. Parts for Vaios are very dear, and they have a habit of not lasting all that long compared to some other brands. |

The very noticeable difference is that 2.16Ghz processor on the Vaio CS13 is a T3400 dual core , whereas the CS16 has the 2.26Ghz P8400 Core 2 Duo with a Centrino 2 chipset... ^I also agree with wratterus re Pctek... |
