2008-10-25 06:00:00 | Hello again, another problem I'm currently having is that my JVC GR-DVL820EA isn't being detected by my computer. The computer has twice by fluke been able to see the video and record it. I am connecting it through the DV port of the camera into the 1394, firewire port. The lead is fine, and the setup works fine on another computer. I have a feeling it might be a weird driver somewhere, or XP3, but I havn't been able to find a fix on microsoft.com. I have tried numerous different video capturing/editing software. Any help would be great. Thanks.

2008-10-25 06:23:00 | Hmm I had the same prob with a PCI card here. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didnt. In the end I took the card out and gave the contacts a wipe with an eraser. Then put it back in, making sure it was in properly It looks like that fixed it. BUT now, I've got another PC with firewire onboard. DON'T put anything in under tcp/ip under its properties. Even tho its a network card, it may not like it if you put ips in its properties

2008-10-25 06:28:00 | Thanks, it may come to opening it up and taking a look. Should I untick tcp/ip then? It's currently ticked and 'obtaining its own' addresses. All three items listed are ticked. Thanks

2008-10-25 07:47:00 | I plugged the camera in once again, and quickly found it under device manager and told it to uninstall the device. The computer restarted, I turned back on the camera, and now it's trying to reinstall itself. ...

2008-12-19 23:33:00 | Update: This is really bugging me, the camera still isn't seen by the pc, Microsoft still hasn't brought out a bug fix, and their support person stopped replying quite a while ago. I need this camera to be seen by the pc, videos to be made!
