714029 2008-10-23 01:39:00 The question would be do you think its worth it?

Me personally, no way in hell, I wouldn't buy it if it were cheaper and as well speced as a non-apple laptop.

Apple fans would of course think you were mad not to buy one.

714030 2008-10-23 01:42:00 Why do you want a MAc? If your reasons for MAC O/S outweigh everything else then fine, but I can't think of a reason myself to pay more for one. pctek (84)
714031 2008-10-23 02:12:00 Yes, especially now that they are made of aluminum and have ditched the integrated Intel graphics chip. I don't have a MacBook, but I do have a MacBook Air which is very similar in design to the new MacBooks and MacBook Pros.

What justifies the extra expense? The design/build quality and the fact it runs Mac OS X.

714032 2008-10-23 02:13:00 Depending on which one you get you can run Windows stuff on it if you need to and have the best of both worlds.

Depends on what you are planning to use it for, they are damed good in my opinion although a little more expensive.

Some of the Mac Audio, Graphics and Video apps are better than windows based ones. Final Cut Pro takes some beating for Video work. I have worked on both OS's for video work.

There are a lot of members here using or have changed to Macs but many are a bit reluctant to put their heads up as the small but vocal anti-mac community here have a habit of acting like deranged imbeciles when ever Apple is mentioned on this forum.

714034 2008-10-23 02:28:00 The only reason you should go for a Mac over a Windows PC is if you need some OS Specific software. Garageband is a good excuse. Otherwise you're paying more than necessary for the hardware, you could get a much more powerful windows PC for that price. Also if it was to break, they are not cheap to fix.

You can still get your hands on a laptop with XP downgrade disks without too much trouble if you don't want Vista.

You just need to remove the crap that manufacturers force upon you with a new laptop.

714035 2008-10-23 02:29:00 yea, i have a vista pc which has had problems in the past ( norton was the problem, fixed now with eset) and use a laptop with xp pro. i feel as though are bloated. macs seem to be a cleaner system from what i read and be told. GameJunkie (72)
714036 2008-10-23 02:37:00 You can point the finger of blame at the specific laptop manufacturers for bloatware and poor software configuration.

After experiencing what crap HP load on a laptop I'm surprised millions more don't switch to apple.

I think they are Metla
In the three months to 27th September Apple sold 2.6 million Macs.
