Nice and clean, tick that entry.

Also download and run LSPFix (www.cexx.org) and remove nwprovau.dll. Make sure to only remove that entry, youll need to tell it you know what you're doing so you can remove that file.

Remove any versions of Java and install the latest from www.java.com

I'd also recommending dumping Windows Defender, it doesn't do anything except slow the PC down.

If it was my PC, I'd dump AVG Free for Avast and Zone Alarm for Comodo, but that doesn't matter, personal preference. AVG and ZA are fine.

713966 2008-10-22 22:39:00 Thank you! NZHawk (4093)
713967 2008-10-22 22:48:00 No worries, trying to get in before Speedy, give him a break cause it's his birthday! wratterus (105)
713968 2008-10-22 22:50:00 lol. Err that entry belongs to Nero btw.

So, not too sure if Nero Scout (or something) will work without it (If you use it)
Speedy Gonzales (78)
713969 2008-10-22 22:55:00 It's the Nero Scout index search. Don't need it, have often seen it use upwards of 50% CPU when indexing, and it's hopeless.

Nero scout will still work fine, it just wont have your whole PC indexed. I have yet to meet someone who uses Nero Search, it's part of the bloatware that gets installed with Nero 7's standard install. ;)

713970 2008-10-22 23:02:00 Ah ok then. Yup I dont know anyone who uses it either.

Actually, its a PITA. It installs whether you want it or not

I think it installs in Nero 8 and 9 as well, whether you want it or not
Speedy Gonzales (78)
713971 2008-10-22 23:08:00 Yep, really annoying.

Every version of Nero after 6 has been bloated. Pity, cause it was a good program, and still kinda is. It just needs to lose the Norton-ness. :p

713972 2008-10-22 23:17:00 Ok
well with all that said
I will sign off
oh and happy birthday Speedy! (Mine was 17th Oct)
