492017 2006-10-16 23:50:00 I've switched my paradise spam and virus settings on however spam gets thru to my mailbox and not the spam mailbox which gets automatically deleted

Haven't received any spam so far with my orcon account

I use trademe alot maybe thats why its coming thru to my paradise as I use paradise email address for my sales and purchase.

I received an average 20 spam messages a day from weird ones like bananna pension. to eurphoria whatever that means.Lol..

I was wondering if I should write an email to paradise telling them spams are coming thru ...

Do you guys still receive spam from your account?

Whats your average of spam a day which you receive?

Do you ever read your spam?Whats the funniest one you've ever received?

Mines the bananna pension one wanting me to spend my life investments on banannas.Ohyeah..Nothing like a life time of banannas after retirements in about 40 years time since im only 21. 22 on this friday ..

Oh by the way the poll is suppose for ISp email account only not web based email like hotmail, yahoo, gmail etc

492018 2006-10-17 00:00:00 Dear Spammer

Thank you for your kind offer of yet more P**** E******s. I have already purchased several hundred and now have the biggest p***** on the planet, quite impressive as I was a woman and had nothing to begin with, however I don't really need yet another increase but I would be in the market now for custom made trousers to accomodate all this extra.

(Xnets spam filter is fairly useless)

492020 2006-10-17 01:41:00 None at all, via Xtra.

I still get about ten per day via my own server - all always bounced via Mailwasher.

No surprise that you get spam then. An address I've used only for personal mail for over 9 years gets only the odd 1 or 2 spam per month that Xtra doesn't filter. Since Sunday I've switched the filter off just to see what does come in, about 1 per day so far.

Now I'm confused.
I thought the question was to find out how much gets through the spam filter - rather than what it catches?

I'm envious of Greg's Xtra experience.
My own Xtra is currently letting 4-5 per day through..But as those are all seemingly from named individuals rather than businesses (which they seem to have sussed), I can't blame them for playing safe.
As has been mentioned often, the volume is increasing rapifly. It seems only a few months ago that I got 4-5 per week, not per day.

Maybe Greg hasn't been with Xtra long enough for the spammers to find him there..?

(Edit) Forgot to say that the Spam folder in my webmail shows a horrifying collection of junk that Xtra DOESN"T put in my Inbox, so I can see which companies are targeting me. But mostly, that'sw too infuriating to check..

Having just refreshed the page, I'm even more envious of PaulD.

Nine years!
I've had mine for 3-4 years & haven't put my address on any public pages or signed up for anything on unsecure pages - knowingly, that is.
So I feel I've done my bit.
But as for all relatives (friends we can choose) whose Address Book I'm in..?

That's all I can think of to blame.

492024 2006-10-17 02:57:00 Spam filtering is a complex business and a typical spam filter looks for hundreds of criteria in email text and email headers.
It is a delicate balancing act to prevent genuine emails being flagged as spam and to prevent this ISP spam filters usually err on the side of caution and as a result some spam will get through.

To get some idea what a spam filter looks for in a message check the link below.
After checking the various criteria listed it gives the message a score and depending on what has been set as the flag point this determines whether it is delivered or flagged as spam
