491803 2006-10-16 00:02:00 Let me see now - I think "credit" indicates that the lender will give you what you want and you pay later hopefully by the due date.

Prepaid credit seems to me to be a mutually exclusive statement.

Oh well never mind.

Well, it's a start to what we were told years & years ago would be "available worldwide soon".

BUT apparently-
1) You need a Visa card.
2) They have an expiry date
3) They're not rechargeable.

So really only useful for presents. Otherwise. you might as well stick with an Eftpos card..

P.S. Interesting that it's NZ Post & Visa.
Kiwibank (run by NZ Post) uses Mastercard, I'm told.

491805 2006-10-16 00:43:00 Might be useful for small online purchases, with companies you do not want to give your real credit card. KiwiTT_NZ (233)

491807 2006-10-16 01:15:00 I have a "prepaid" credit card. I put money into it the buy the item.

As for giving one to other people, I'd just give them money.

Nah, too messy for me... A typical Xmas haul leaves me with $400 floating 'round... Then it all gets blown on this PC lol.

491811 2006-10-16 09:07:00 This would be great for me, since I dont have a lot of money and since there are a few programs that I would like to register over the net. e.g Trillian

I can load it with say $200 and use it sparingly. But reading through the terms and conditions its not treated as a credit card per se but as a credit gift card... Hmm, might try $100 and see what happens.
