Get ready Scouse
Xtra Broadband is about to be unleashed!
Hi Scouse,
Here's some fantastic news: from October 26, Xtra's broadband plans will be moving to maximum downstream speed . That means on all of our broadband plans, the downstream connection will run as fast as your phone line allows .

You won't pay any more for this new feature and there's nothing you need to do . We'll make the changes automatically after October 26 .

We're also launching two great new broadband plans that'll knock your socks off! From just $10 more a month, here's what you could get:

The new Go Large plan offers maximum downstream speeds and unlimited data usage . It's great for households that use the Internet in different ways and it's the best plan to keep everyone happy . No need to worry about your usage, you can keep surfing and emailing at broadband speeds .

Or, our Go Express plan offers maximum downstream and faster upstream connection speeds as well . It's ideal if you are an Internet user who is short on time and wants to upload photos, surf the web and email super fast .

For full details on the new plans and what the speed changes mean for you, check out xtraplans . co . nz

In the meantime, hang on and get ready for maximum speed!

Kind regards

The Team @ Xtra

491608 2006-10-15 07:51:00 Telecom are definitely selling their plans up.

I got a similar e-mail this morning, but because I am already on the Adventure plan they obviously weren't going to say "Hey- we have a great new Go Large plan that will give you max speed and unlimited d/load... for $10.00 less a month"

Instead they said I will be automaticly switched to the 'New Adventure plan'... oooh let's see, for the same amount I pay now I can have max/128 with a 10gig limit.

Gee, which one would you choose????

Why in god's name can't they just front up and say, "look- this new plan is better and cheaper. We will shift you automaticly to it, or you can choose the plan you want."

Mmmmm . My neighbour (still with Xtra on their 3 . 5Mbps plan) got this exciting announcement too .

What a pity she is only able to get around 600kbps, just like the rest of Wyndham exchange users .
But of course, thats exactly what Telecom is saying isn't it .

What are you doing wrong? The Avonhead users in a similar position managed to get a result.

491611 2006-10-15 17:42:00 The bugger of it all is that I'm going to have to pay twenty bucks extra for much the same thing I already have just to get the 512kb/s upload speed. :groan: Greg (193)

Because they live in a big city with competition from Telstra available?
Whereas we are in a teeney little town near nothing important.

Telecom said the "speed is acceptable." I emailed everyone including the Commerce Commission. Tired of fighting now....

I heard that Invercargill is quite near a great big mass of salty water called an ocean, which is apparently teeming with fish. Sounds kinda important to me. :D
