714483 2008-10-26 23:23:00 Must seem like a noob for asking so many questions.

When running ubuntu under V box do I have to click the install to have it save direct to my hdd for use next time, this doesn't install it as a dual boot though as I'm wanting to avoid that for now?

You should really have separate virtual machines for XP and Ubuntu, to make things easier.

In any case, you just treat the virtual machines as though they were a spare PC sitting in the corner - so if you want to install an operating system like Ubuntu, you'll need to click on "Install", otherwise you'll need to boot from CD next time. Just remember that for all intents and purposes, the virtual machine is just "another" normal computer.

714485 2008-10-26 23:41:00 OK I think I have it now just been on the V box forum as well. I have XP as my original OS installed on this comp and have installed V box, now want to install Ubuntu as a virtual OS so know now I still have to actually install it when its running under V box. Also installed separately a XP disk I slipstreamed SP3 into to test it and have now deleted that virtual machine as It was only a test.

Promise not to ask too many more questions somebody you have been very patient and it's appreciated
