492880 2006-10-20 11:49:00 House is a far better series than 24 Greven (91)
492881 2006-10-20 22:12:00 Unfortunately this series of 24 has not drawn a large enough audience to justify its primetime slot. The show just never took off with New Zealanders the same way it has with American Audiences.
Perhaps it is because they play it on Friday nights? According to this article (www.smh.com.au), "people who use VCRs are never counted in statistics for viewing." If this is the case in NZ as well, it would make sense that statistics would show lower viewer numbers as more people are likely to record a show on Friday or Saturday night than on a Tuesday or Wednesday - though one would assume they would take that sort of thing into account.

Either way, 24 is a great show, so it's a shame they can no longer justify playing it in a prime time slot.

492882 2006-10-21 00:01:00 Good thing I downloaded and watched the whole season about 2 months ago while I was in Germany on a 16Mbps internet connection  CYaBro (73)
492883 2006-10-21 00:03:00 People still watch TV Shows on their TV in NZ? Wow. :dogeye: P2P/Torrents is where it's at for all your TV episodes.

You never miss anything, the quality is better, you can watch it when you want and you get to watch it at least a year before it comes on NZ TV.

I noticed New Zealand TV becoming useless in screening decent shows like 5 years ago. They'd start screening a show, then they'd stop half way through the season for no reason, then pick it up again half a year later. Then to make it worse they stopped screening the decent shows like Alias, 24, Stargate, Battlestar Galactica etc and started screening absolute crap like reality shows, Idol, Dancing with the losers etc etc.

Seriously you're missing out on all the good shows if you don't have a broadband connection and no torrent program. I knew about Prison Break like a good year before TV3 even knew it existed. And another example I'm watching the 3rd series of Lost right now and NZ TV won't get that for at least 6 months I imagine.

Should have died on the first episode. If I ever turn old and start watching Coronation Street, please feel free to put me out of my misery.

492889 2006-10-22 04:52:00 i hate 24 and love house, but i still think they should end the season before showing house. and re-runs? :groan: why bother?

most the other stuff mentioned in this forum i find rubbish too, especially coro st. I watched Angel whilst it was showing (before the re-runs), and it was on at 11:15pm tuesday nights. how did i do this? simple

TAPE IT

as difficult as some VCRs are, it is possible to tell it to tape a show at a set time. an added bonus is when watching you can cut out all the ads
