714611 2008-10-25 03:46:00 A friend had bought a dvd from the shop, not realizing that it was Zone 5 which won't play on his dvd player, I thought that copying the dvd onto a blank one might remove the zoning so I went to copy it but it's copyright protected, so I tried ripping it onto the computer and then burning it onto a blank dvd, but it's all muddled up and not in order, like the menu ends up somewhere in the middle and it starts with a song that's at the end of the original dvd. I put in the original dvd and looked at the ripped files on the computer and they were both in the same order.. Is there a way to do it so it's all in the right order? We're not pirating it as he has the original copy, it's just that he doesn't have a multi zone and obviously can't get a refund...
Does anyone have any ideas on how to get an exact copy?

714614 2008-10-25 04:03:00 have you tried nero recode if you or your friend has the program?

it allows you to recode dvd's and still keep the menus etc, and then burn to dvd

714617 2008-10-25 07:16:00 DVD Shrink will do the entire job, either to Hard Drive or to another DVD. Bantu (52)
714618 2008-10-26 02:00:00 I still don't get it. I used dvd shrink and copied the files to the computer, but when I put them onto another disk, the files still didn't play in order.
I've wasted 4 dvd disks so far and Im onto my last one so really don't want to stuff it up again. Im not very computer savvy!

Not sure if this will help, but it shows;

Do all those need to go on dvd? I don't have nero anymore so I can't preview them, windows media player and VLC doesn't play any of those files, it will open with nero but my free trial has expired.

714619 2008-10-26 02:16:00 Try either DVD Decrypter (www.mrbass.org) or DVD Fab (http://www.dvdfab.com/) - DVD Fab is a trial only but I think it works fully for 30 days. wainuitech (129)
714620 2008-10-26 02:37:00 Or better still, buy (ie spend a $ or 2) a reputable DVD copying programme such as 1Click DVD Copy Pro ;) Zippity (58)
