2008-10-27 06:46:00 | Just a note. Friend have had 2 RMAs, the first some RAM bought 2nd hand from someone who bought from Computer Lounge. Computer Lounge did the replacement in 1 week including emails and shipping back and forth. The 2nd RMA was a graphics card bought by them as part of a complete system from Ascent. This one has been dragging on since the 16th of September. Ascent wanted to know more about its symptoms - they were given (after a brief description of the problem was already given in the first place. Then they wanted the serial number (had already been given the original invoice number). Then nothing happened at all. Then an apology was given after yet another email asking whats going on. Since then, another week has gone by without any more contact. I'll be ringing Ascent tomorrow on behalf of these people. They haven't been too impressed at all with Ascent but have been extremely impressed with CL. Can't say I'm too impressed either.

2008-10-27 07:46:00 | Sounds a bit like they had/have people that dont read all the information thats given already - Since Ascent were the supplier, the invoice number should be easy enough to cross reference the card and obtain. If they are having supply or other problems a quick phone call to the customer saves a lot of grief, then they know whats happening.

2008-10-28 02:30:00 | I’ve been having a problem with Ascent for a couple of weeks regarding exchanging a Ram module. A number of emails went unanswered so I finally rang and got through to a very courteous Marc who sorted things out instantly. Apparently the staff member that was dealing with my problem has "moved on". I wouldn't mind betting there's a connection there with your problem pctek My faith in Ascent has been restored :banana

2008-10-28 02:39:00 | I have found both Ascent and CL to be good. CL messed up a motherboard for me a few times, but at least they were quick about sending me faulty parts. I had a water pump that I'd bought from Ascent crap out, and they sent me to Anyware who were brilliant. They couriered me overnight a new pump, before I even sent my one back.

2008-10-28 03:45:00 | I have found Ascent good on guarantee items. I am very careful to check items first before making any claim. I use other suppliers from time to time when there is a significant price differential. I never do business with any out of district supplier. It is not worth the ulcers not to mention the expense involved.

It is not worth the ulcers not to mention the expense involved. Thats a bit rough esp the part R2x1 high lighted - if in business that's actually stupid as well - here's an example - I ordered components from a supplier in Auckland this morning - they have been sent by overnight courier - will arrive tomorrow morning. Now two of my other suppliers that are local in Lower Hutt & Wellington - IF I got the exact same parts locally, even with the courier fee added in, there is a total combined price difference of $137.23 more expensive locally. (and thats only one order - add that over average of 5 orders a month or more x 1 year) Total time to order the components - about 5 minutes, I knew what I wanted and simply clicked add to cart - Confirm / Send order. To get them locally it would have meant two different suppliers, two couriers costs or about an hours travel to collect myself, slightly more then the $7.00+gst the courier cost from Auckland-Wellington. |
