493861 2006-10-25 05:55:00 I had crutches recently when I hurt my foot... Foot healed, crutches returned.... I found that walking on crutches has improved my posture. Now I want cruches back:waughh:

Any one know where I can buy a pair? New? Not trademe.

493862 2006-10-25 07:48:00 What would you do with them? R.M. (561)
493863 2006-10-25 08:59:00 I have seen them sold at a couple of pharmacies - they're not cheap though. somebody (208)
493864 2006-10-25 09:24:00 Why buy? Stick your leg out of the car window for a while and you'll get another free set. R2x1 (4628)

493867 2006-10-25 11:23:00 Phone your local hospital.
Ask whichever department loaned them to you where they buy them.

Ha ha, but it's our tax money we are talking about here, remember? They are not cheap and it costs hospitals a fortune to replace wandering crutches (and other loaned equipment) that could be better used to keep waiting lists down. :(

493869 2006-10-25 21:51:00 Hi Timbo. Still intrigued about your original post. Posture? Nearly fifty years since I used hospital crutches - shoulders hunched up - neck scrunched up - bounding along with one leg taking three metres strides - having them fall away from me when I sat down - occasionally snagging them on a chair leg or some peasant's leg - I couldn't wait to rid myself of the damn things. Scouse (83)
493870 2006-10-25 23:14:00 Ah, Scouse, I expect you're talking about those old wooden things?

Hospital crutches nowadays are a different animal - light aluminium & adjustable for height.
