493626 2006-10-24 08:39:00 Today I received my telecom bill, and found that after being promised by telecom that they would match my previous toll phone providers prices, that they had switched my pricing back to their normal rates without informing me. Prevous months they were matching my old providers rates on an anytime plan, but after about 6 months, they had switched it off the anytime plan and I was now being billed daytime rates.
When I phoned them I also found out that they had been charging me 2 lots of wiring maintence since 2001, when they should have only been charging one. They were only willing to credit back one year of this, as that is the maximum they said that they could credit back. They weren't able to explain why my toll calls had gone up, but said that I would have to pay another $10 per month to switch back to the anytime plan. I told them that I will be switching back to another provider. I hate companies that try to lure you to them by offering something verbally, and then when something goes wrong there was no record of it as it was all done verbally.
Just wondering what provider people use of toll calls. Slingshots pricing looks good, but their are so many others out their with similar pricing. Who do people use?

So you haven't bothered checking the bill for 5 years but even so they can't charge more than 1 wiring maintenance charge per line (you do only have 1 line don't you?). This is quite different to being on the wrong calling plan etc. Don't let them fob you off with some BS limit on crediting this mistake.

I have a second number on the same line, but I was told by the person I spoke to that I should only be charged the one wire maintenance fee. I didn't initially realise it was an error, as it appeared under the other number, however when I asked for it to be cancelled, they told me that it shouldn't be on there anyway and they would give me a 1 year refund for it. I think Telecoms bills are intentially confusing this way.

493629 2006-10-24 18:26:00 If it's only 1 physical line, insist that you get a full refund of the 2nd mtce charge. Promise to take it further if they don't agree. PaulD (232)

493631 2006-10-24 20:02:00 I switched to Ihug as they offer a flat rate of unlimited anytime of day toll calls for $20 a month.
Beats $2 per call (max) with Telecom.
