715050 2008-10-27 06:32:00 you don't have ssh access Sorry. beama (111)
715051 2008-10-27 06:39:00 Try Chilling_Silence method with a slight modification left click on the first folder in the remote view window of the server file structure within your ftp program then go to the last folder in the series press on and hold the left shift key click on the last folder.

With any luck everything between first and last click will now be selected the do as Chilling_Silence suggest right click etc

715052 2008-10-27 06:47:00 Ive tried that, it does not edit the contents of the folders.

Is there any ftp program that can view and edit all files at the same time?
like a search thing where you can enter *.* to bring up all files and then change the permissions?
Core ftp can search for them, but you cannot edit the properties.

That would do the job just as well

715053 2008-10-27 07:17:00 try here www.snapfiles.com or www.oldversion.com and look for wsftp. I use an old version that was released before it went pay for use beama (111)
715054 2008-10-27 07:43:00 No, that one doesn't have any of the features that Core FTP lacks.
Looks like I'll just have to do it manually :P

Thanks anyways :)

715055 2008-10-27 09:55:00 Try Ctrl + A to select all files? :D

WinSCP should do what you're after :)

715056 2008-10-27 21:39:00 I have tried doing Ctrl+A and the Shift select ways prior to posting. The limitation I am facing is that it only edits the files in view, and not the contents of any of the folders. I need to find away to view all files on the server at once (even the ones in subfolders) and be able to edit the permissions from there. I have over 800 files and 50 folders, and they would just take forever :) esayolay (13857)
715057 2008-10-28 01:14:00 Can you try just using the Windows ftp command line client instead of a GUI?

- Bring up the windows command prompt
- type:

ftp [hostname]

- enter your username/password
- then see if you have the "chmod" command available to you, type:

chmod -?

- if you don't get back "invalid command" or similar, post back and we should be able to step you through the remaining commands

715058 2008-11-02 01:16:00 Yeah chmod is an invalid command :(.
I dont actually need to do it anymore lol, but if you want to continue for the benefit of others who may have this problem, please do so :D
