715233 2008-10-27 22:48:00 I am in the process of setting up a new computer to take over from the trusty old box I have lived with for the past 7 years.

Is their any simple way to transfer all the cookies and website passwords held in Firefox on the old machine to the new?

I assume that Bookmarks will be just a simple cut and paste - If not advice on that would be appreciated.

Looks like this can export passwords (addons.mozilla.org)

Goto:

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\Local Settings\Application Data

Copy the Mozilla Folder there. (Don't cut n paste just in case)

Paste the Mozilla folder to the App Data folder of the new computer.

If you then run firefox on the new computer, it should be all fine n dandy.

715236 2008-10-28 05:19:00 Do you know about the "add on" Foxmarks which stores yr bookmarks off your puter and they are easily recoverable. kjaada (253)
715237 2008-10-28 05:22:00 Or the password exporter addon gary67 (56)
715238 2008-10-28 05:39:00 I would go with kjaada's idea-foxmarks syncs passwords now, too and it'll do the job just fine. Blam (54)

FEBE, Firefox Environment Backup Extension, make sure you get the correct version for your Firefox:

715240 2008-10-28 08:30:00 I had a look at that-but I never knew it exported passwords, cookies and bookmarks too Blam (54)
715241 2008-10-28 10:07:00 Entire profiles as well, search bar engines and more, check out his other add-ons, they are v. good.

Look at OPIE, it is a preferences backup utility.

Use the quick back up it is much faster.

I have found it is very easy to use and you can choose what settings you want to transfer.
