| 715077 | 2008-10-27 06:19:00 | Hey, A friend of mine is starting a simple business and has asked me for help. He just wants to be able to work on the same file as another workmate but from two or more locations. He said the file will just be in excel for accounting data and I guess customers etc. I told him a database would be better for this, especially in the long run. Ok so my question is: Should I suggest he buy a simple server and install the necessary software and keep it at one of their houses? or Is there some online environment, such as google docs or something, that supports multiple users logging in and working on the same files? | 715078 | 2008-10-27 06:33:00 | You can't have 2 people amending the exact same file at the exact same time. Server or not. One can be changing it and one reading but for obvious reasons you can't have both change it together. |
