1431327 2017-01-29 20:01:00 I have up to $250 to spend on a new phone.
Must be android, must be available in NZ.

What would you recommend. Not often I need to ask but I'm a bit out of the loop at the moment.

Thanks

1431328 2017-01-31 21:03:00 Something like this one (www.noelleeming.co.nz). Look for one that has a 13mp camera, quad or octa core processor, and 2 Gb of RAM - possibly 1.5 would be OK. You can add memory cards to most Androids but check that you can. The Huawei that I selected does not indicate the RAM but a google search will tell.

Avoid phones with only 1 Gb RAM, also duo core.

Try to get Android 6 or higher. I have 5.1 and it is good but you may as well try for a newer version of Android. Avoid old versions of Android such as 4.2

A friend as a Galaxy J5 and she likes it. My wife has a 'Vodafone brand' with a 5.5 in screen - it has a big battery which lasts a long time. We are both on 2degrees but the Voda's will be OK - Spark phones will probably be OK also.

If the phone is LOCKED, make sure it is your phone company or you could always spend $30 and get it unlocked.

Have a look around and post what you think you will get so that we can all check it for you.

[Edit] Note that the Noel Lemming site has user reviews for the phone. You could also google to get user reviews of whatever you do pick.

1431329 2017-01-31 22:06:00 The Warehouse has the Vodafone for $230, on sale. It's the same as what my wife has. If 5.5in is OK with you, grab it. Strommer (42)
1431330 2017-02-01 00:20:00 Here is the phone (www.thewarehouse.co.nz) at The Warehouse, which is now on sale. It has Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Great battery. Octa core. Probably 2 Gb RAM - it certainly does not lag.

I recommended this phone to a friend last year and they really like it. SWMBO also has this phone. Nice big bright screen, I would not mind having it.

1431331 2017-02-01 06:56:00 Thanks Strommer bought the smart ultra 7.

I have a P8 Lite and while its been a great phone its got a fault that I can't get fixed without paying a large fee so not worth it.

1431332 2017-02-01 07:23:00 Ah, good one - glad to be of assistance. That phone is a good buy. It is a bit under your budget which would allow you to get a memory card if necessary, or perhaps a case. Strommer (42)
1431333 2017-02-01 08:38:00 Yes bought a case and will switch memory card from this phone. Free shipping on all orders over $100 too gary67 (56)
