1431040 2017-01-24 23:02:00 "Garrett took two frying pans and some baby formula, worth between $100 and $200, and he and his friends went home.

Shortly after arriving home, the trio discussed the loot and decided they should take it back, the summary said.

They returned to the train with the items to find police monitoring the site."

I recently bought a 26" cast iron frypan for $28.
$200? Um.

.

what did they take that they havnt admitted to ?

"The following week, police searched Garrett's home in Kaikoura to see if he had any other items from the train."
well, I wonder why they didnt find other stolen stuff from the train a week later. Perhaps he moved it somewhere else knowing that he's been busted for theft? As of course he would do . Why not raid his house ASAP ? too much effort ?

Seems crime does now pay. Cops too busy doing God knows what.
My Neighbour rings the cops about a local stripping stolen cars in the driveway late at night , now a common occurrence at that house.
Cops come around 6 hours later, well of course all the evidence is now gone. Wouldnt catching them in the act have been a better choice ?
The cops know they are car theives , but nothing ever happens . So they just keep stealing local cars .
Seems car theft is low on the police agenda .
