1432343 2017-03-01 04:04:00 I am having all sorts of hassles with icons on my 42" monitor.... anyone else have any experience with this screen please? No matter what I do the icons move around and the Taskbar changes size.... for instance today I had been out for a while and when I returned the Taskbar was 8cm high..... where I would expect it to be about 2cm..... I have Lock Taskbar.... so to change it back I have to take the tick off Lock Taskbar, change the size, and put the Lock Taskbar tick back in place.... irritating....

I am wondering if I should take this up with PB Tech from whom I purchased the set up, or Philips the manufacturer.... any advice please?

TIA

1432344 2017-03-01 04:24:00 Its got something to do with the NUC. It could be hardware or software. If its software related they may not have done something correctly, could be a bad install or could be hardware problems causing corruptions. Sounds a little like a graphics problem or system corruption.

If the sizing is not staying put then the computer/OS cant figure out where its meant to be. If should auto set the resolution, and should hold the settings.

This again like your other post is more than likely relating to the shut down problems.

Side Advise:

Last night I set up a fresh installed W10 ( it had a badly damaged W7) to a 48" TV via HDMI, once changing the resolution it works fine.

Put in a Media program started a couple of movies they have and almost got killed in the rush from the kids as the picture was fantastic.

1432345 2017-03-01 05:40:00 should I be taking this computer and monitor back to PB Tech to sort out? I am really disappointed that I have this new computer and all I am having is hassles.... makes my old one look very appealing.

1432346 2017-03-01 06:02:00 1st thing I would do is look at the log files as suggested in your other post a few days back. See whats going on. If you can get those .dmp files I can have a gander at what they say, but you'll need to upload to somewhere and supply a link.
BTW theres no personal data , license codes etc given, just whats turned turtle and what may have caused it.

What you can do now though, is open a CMD as admin, type in Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth <press Enter> it will scan the windows image and give a result at the end. Depending on what it finds ( or doesn't) you can also run Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

The differences are:
1. Scans the image to check for corruption
2.The DISM tool will report whether the image is healthy, repairable, or non-repairable. If the image is non-repairable, you should discard the image and start again.

Sometimes when scanning it appears to stop at 20% its hasn't just let it finish.

Depending on the result will depend on what happens next.

Have to go out on a job ( yeah I know 7pm) so I'll look on returning if anything has been found , or if anyone else can supply an answer.

1432348 2017-03-01 21:48:00 Hi There Wainuitech

I have saved (jpg) Reliability Monitor and there are two items on the dump file.... the reliability shows 9 red "x" marks..... is there some way I can send these to you - and would that be helpful or not? You mentioned opening a CMD as admin.... sorry don't know what CMD stands for. I have taken the step of stopping W10 restarting so the stop code is on screen but - Murphy's Law - haven't yet had another one. I am seriously considering taking this back to PB Tech - I am very disappointed in the performance.... I have bought many computers from that company over the years.

1432349 2017-03-01 22:10:00 BTW Reliability showed 378 critical events for 1/3/17.... Bryden (4161)
1432350 2017-03-01 22:52:00 I take you got it from PB Tech Hamilton?,ring them and explain that it has not been stable since you have got it

You may be able to take it in and take it home the same day if nothing major but it may not be the case as could be a Hardware problem

Could try Microsoft Software Repair Tool, follow the vid to get an idea www.majorgeeks.com mon_windows_problems.html

1432351 2017-03-01 23:01:00 Hi Bryden.

CMD stands for Command prompt.

To open one, in the search next to the Start type in CMD, a result will appear, black icon - right click it - run as administrator.

7895

Then if you want copy/paste or carefully type in the commands I posted previously.

7896

The Reliability monitor -- OUCH, that many errors, there's something wrong for sure. Are they all the same thing ? If so what ?

If you wanted to send me the .dmp files and the pictures you can upload them to http://www.filedropper.com/ then PM me the link it gives you and I can download them. OR if you rather I can PM you my email address (one of them any way) :)

1432352 2017-03-01 23:17:00 Wainuitech - my email is bshiells@xtra.co.nz - maybe you would like to email me privately. I tried to run the repair tool mentioned in the previous message from Lawrence.... I just got the error that the repair tool had stopped working.... and I tried to uninstall Thunderbird - from Control Panel uninstall - wouldn't shift... sigh... Bryden (4161)
