| 715999 | 2008-10-30 09:19:00 | I am looking to upgrade my grahics card from a paltry 128MB ( i know what your thinking!) to an asus card www.elive.co.nz my question is do i need to upgrade the cooling systems or anything else? current specs are : AMD athlon 3800+ cpu, 1GB(512*2) DDR2 memory, Nvidia Geforce 6150SE, 160GB HDD, 19" screen, Vista Premium. thanks in advance, |

| 716000 | 2008-10-30 10:01:00 | yeah with that one being passively cooled i'd definitely be making sure case cooling was up to scratch, especially if you intend gaming on it. perhaps you might want to consider a 9 series card instead. 9600 cards are pretty good value for money. |

I would get either of these to play games properly the way they are ment to be played in rich detail and high/max settings. Go to www.tomshardware.com (http://www.tomshardware.com) website and check out the latest performance charts for graphic cards easy as of course!!! And the graphic cards I suggested are way better then the 8400GS and the 9 series!!!! :thumbs: :banana :clap |

| 716004 | 2008-10-30 11:00:00 | Make sure your computer case has 120mm fans and can fit the ATI Radeon HD 4870 1GB graphics card or Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 896MB graphic card,as they are pretty big graphic cards and take a bit of room up in your computer case and they can get pretty hot if you dont have good case cooling. :) :thumbs: |

| 716005 | 2008-10-30 20:08:00 | thanks memphis for your detailed reply. upon looking around i have come up with the following, Asus 8500GT 1G PCI-E Video Card HDTV- $103.30 Corsair 2GB Memory (2x 1GB Kit) PC-5300 (667MHz), DDR2, non-ECC, Unbuffered- $59.30 AMD Athlon X2 5000+ Dual Core- $124.70 i am running the 32-bit version of vista so i thought i could add the next 2GB in dual channel as is the case with the two 512s giving a healthy 3GB of memory. with these in mind is cooling still an issue? and also would the power supply suffice?? |

| 716007 | 2008-10-30 20:27:00 | If you want to game on a budget, I'd suggest you get either: 9800GTX 8800GT 4850 9600GT With a very strong preference to the 4850. But the 8800 is your best bet if you're on a serious budget. The 260 isn't worth it IMO, if you want to spend a bit more, see if your MoBo supports a second 4850. |
