| 715970 | 2008-10-30 07:46:00 | Hi All...Can someone please explain what makes these thingies work? I see that Warehouse Stat have got an 8BG model. Thats bigger than eartlier Computer hard drives!!! PJ | Poppa John (284) | ||
| 715971 | 2008-10-30 07:54:00 | Theyre USB 2, and work by plugging into a USB port. They do exactly what floppies do (but faster, portable, and they have more space). Some like the U3 flash drives, also have launchpad (for programs ), so you can add / install programs on it. (the programs HAVE to be made for them, you cant install any program you want on one of these) And run them from the USB flash drive. Which saves you installing whatever program on a hdd. These kind of flash drives dont leave anything on the hdd, so there is no trace of the program you install (because its on the flash drive, not on the desktop hdd). You can also copy install files / whatever to them ( like a floppy), if the files are small. Saves you wasting a CD ie: like if a mate wants some files, all you have to do, is plug it in copy the files to it, then take it wherever |

| 715973 | 2008-10-30 08:13:00 | Important to 'stop' (right-click the drive's icon on the RH side of the taskbar) the USB flash drives before disconnecting them from the computer (finalises the transfer of files, so you don't corrupt the data/memory chips; I would think that it shortens the life of the drive also if you don't 'stop' it). The 'innards' of a flash drive, en.wikipedia.org the memory chips are similar to the cards for your digital camera. |

| 715978 | 2008-10-30 10:22:00 | Don't right click the drive icon to remove, left click it once and wait, does the same job with less clicks and faster. | zqwerty (97) | ||
