715804 2008-10-29 14:06:00 Does anyone know if there is any speed issues with telecom. I've just changed to slingshot and is having speed issues on downloads. After the first 10mb downloading at 1.3mb it just went down to 20kps. I complain and now getting 95kb. I found many others are having the same problem as me with slingshot. I am on ADSL2 at the moment with speed test using speedtest.net at 17000kb DL and 800kb UP. I want to change back to telecom but would like to know if telecom is having speed managed as well.

Thanks

715805 2008-10-29 18:06:00 All ISP's will have speed issues, sooner or later.

Not much you can do about it

715806 2008-10-29 20:01:00 Just switched from Xnet to Telecom and am very pleased with the performance. Xnet was fine during the day but hopeless in the evening. Telecom is good all day and evening. But, please, torrenters, stay away as I am out of options to escape from you! linw (53)

715808 2008-10-29 23:40:00 Thanks Linw, I am the same. I down the odd movie and tv series. but is only 1 way download. I don't upload stuff and never us BT, emule or whaterver involves with p2p. I want constant speed when i need it and use the monthly cap allocated. most of the time i don't even use it full mostly only 60% sometimes 20%. But I want the speed. cityhunter2000 (8700)
715809 2008-10-30 01:22:00 Yes ADSL2+ is not all its cracked up to be..
I've just switched from standard ADSL to ADSL2+ (telstraclear) and it barely reaches 30% of its supposed limits.
Downloads have jumped from about 3000kbps to around 5000kbps (still miles away from the theoretical max ) and uploads top out at about 700kbps

The network just cant deliver ADSL2+ speeds

If you don’t use p2p / torrent programs, then you should get some good speeds (I am on Xtra Go Large so I cant comment on what the international bandwidth is like, as its not all that great for Go Large at the moment), but I guess it will be ok for the other plans.

I'm in Napier...do you know what exchange you are on? Marewa or Taradale?

I thought we werent going to adsl2 until March next year?

Actually...are you sure you are on adsl2?, those speeds are within adsl max speeds!

715812 2008-10-30 11:59:00 Had enough. was downloading a file at 6pm started at 988kb and then down to 1.5kb and then settle at 15kb. Rang Telecom and changed it back. cityhunter2000 (8700)
