495524 2006-10-31 07:57:00 My understanding is that you can only pick ONE best mate at a time and you have to change to Supa Prepay which means your calling landlines and other Vodafones is going increase from 49c to 89c .

Also you need to top up at least every 3 months so that rather large credit you may have got from their double top up promo is at risk .

I would be willing to swap if they at least allowed you to choose more than one mate .

I feel they giveth with one hand and taketh with the other .

495525 2006-10-31 08:01:00 text messaging ---> Good i think $10 for 2000 text

phone call terriable, how can that possible.. 0.89 if u still have to ring Vodafone and landline (thats like a $0.40 price increase from Vodafone). thats unfair i think.... however even with off peak calling 7pm-7am, it shouldn't even be calling as 0.89, it should be 0.49c... to vodafone only!!!

495526 2006-10-31 08:29:00 The question should be, why did we add our email address into the www.bestmate.co.nz website, when we haven't been informed about this. I would ahve expected vodafone to inform us first about this plan. Was this just a con to harvest email addresses for spam. Not good form vodafone. rogerp (6864)

495529 2006-10-31 08:58:00 Honestly people...... I'm personally not keen on changing over, etc. as I'm not a big user of mobile phones. But it seems people will never be satisfied. This plan is a huge improvement.

Ok, Vodafone is a company. It is international. I do not know of any international companies, or infact any company, that does not aim to make a profit. Off course every promotion, etc. they do will be to try gain market share and make money! Hence stopping free txt now that they have a stable customer-base, and now restricting txt to V.fone only. This plan, in my opinion, is for high-volume txters. Why would you change to this plan if you weren't going to use the $10 txt? Therefore, you can expect them to expect calling charges to make up for the 'loss' in profits. Then... I do not know anyone in NZ who uses $10 txt one month, then not the next month, but then again the following month, etc. Everyone I know either uses it, every month, or doesn't. So, 90 days is 3 months. That means $30 at least if you were just to txt only. Vodafone are asking for top up of $20 every 3 months. That's not even enough to pay for the $30 bill! So get over it, and make good use of this plan, or ignore it as another business strategy just as I will be.

495530 2006-10-31 09:04:00 I hope telecom come out with plans to better it, as that will be the competitive thing to do. I wonder if this will make any difference to the ComComs decision due out soon, regarding the high cost of cell phone usage in NZ.

You hit the nail on the head with vodafone being an offshore company. If you pay vodafone, most of your money you pay goes offshore. However if you pay telecom, a lot of it stays in NZ, as Telecom is now largely owned by NZ mum and dad shareholders. I am surprised that telecom don't do more marketing to emphasize this point.

495531 2006-10-31 09:06:00 I received an email as well today

Just checked my inbox and no email :groan: I guess they are sending them in batches, or maybe my ISP telecom, has blocked it as spam;)
