Update it then scan, then select all options under the utilities menu |

2008-10-31 20:18:00 | You know I find Malwarebytes misses a lot of stuff. Had one in on Thursday running Malwarebytes and an AV and it had quite a few spywares. Used HJT, Spybot and ST and it cleared it all out nicely. I have had the same, but then again the next PC may be reversed. The order I run the programs in are Spyware Terminator, Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D then Spyware Doctor(which I remove after its done). Sometimes malwarebytes gets items Spyware terminator misses and vice Versa. Old story - as we all know use several different programs as no one will get them all. On a badly infected PC I also use Combofix, then hjt to make sure nothing is left that I could see.

2008-10-31 22:48:00 | Things seem much better already. Thanks for all the excellent help, seems like I have learnt along the way. HiJackthis is such an excellent little app :) Like task manager but you can do something except "end process" you can nuke it right out of existance :) I'd say the computer is running faster also so very happy. The missus will be stoked as we run a business from here :) And once again for good luck my logfile once everything has been completed.... well except for turn back on system restore.... I assume that was assumed for me to do? :) lol. Seeing all these lines of..... stuff..... makes me wonder why I left uni. It's just good brain tickling, alpha state fun. And cuz you just can't say it enough, thanks guys :) Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2 Scan saved at 11:41:06 a.m., on 1/11/2008 Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16735) Boot mode: Normal Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\aswUpdSv.exe C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashServ.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\AppleMobileDeviceService.exe C:\WINDOWS\ATKKBService.exe C:\Program Files\IVT Corporation\BlueSoleil\BTNtService.exe C:\Program Files\Bonjour\mDNSResponder.exe C:\Program Files\Google\Common\Google Updater\GoogleUpdaterService.exe C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jqs.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\LightScribe\LSSrvc.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG\MDM.EXE C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero8\Nero BackItUp\NBService.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\nvsvc32.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\IoctlSvc.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\PnkBstrA.exe C:\Program Files\CyberLink\Shared files\RichVideo.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\SafeNet Sentinel\Sentinel Keys Server\sntlkeyssrvr.exe C:\Program Files\Spyware Terminator\sp_rsser.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashMaiSv.exe C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashWebSv.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\RTHDCPL.EXE C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Mobile2\Application Launcher\Application Launcher.exe C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe C:\PROGRA~1\ALWILS~1\Avast4\ashDisp.exe C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.Exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\DNA\btdna.exe C:\Program Files\IVT Corporation\BlueSoleil\BlueSoleil.exe C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqtra08.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\wuauclt.exe C:\Program Files\Media Key\MagicKey.exe C:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exe C:\Program Files\Media Key\OSD.EXE C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqimzone.exe C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqSTE08.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Teleca Shared\Generic.exe C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Mobile2\Mobile Phone Monitor\epmworker.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\distnoted.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\Documents and Settings\Shelley\Desktop\HiJackThis.exe R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.google.co.nz/ R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = go.microsoft.com R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = go.microsoft.com R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = go.microsoft.com R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = go.microsoft.com R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Int ernet Settings,ProxyOverride = *.local O2 - BHO: Adobe PDF Reader Link Helper - {06849E9F-C8D7-4D59-B87D-784B7D6BE0B3} - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\ActiveX\AcroIEHelper.dll O2 - BHO: Java(tm) Plug-In SSV Helper - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\ssv.dll O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file) O2 - BHO: Google Toolbar Notifier BHO - {AF69DE43-7D58-4638-B6FA-CE66B5AD205D} - C:\Program Files\Google\GoogleToolbarNotifier\4.1.805.4472\sw g.dll O2 - BHO: Java(tm) Plug-In 2 SSV Helper - {DBC80044-A445-435b-BC74-9C25C1C588A9} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jp2ssv.dll O2 - BHO: JQSIEStartDetectorImpl - {E7E6F031-17CE-4C07-BC86-EABFE594F69C} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib\deploy\jqs\ie\jqs_plugin.dll O3 - Toolbar: &Crawler Toolbar - {4B3803EA-5230-4DC3-A7FC-33638F3D3542} - C:\PROGRA~1\Crawler\Toolbar\ctbr.dll (file missing) O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [RTHDCPL] RTHDCPL.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Alcmtr] ALCMTR.EXE O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [nwiz] nwiz.exe /install O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LanguageShortcut] "C:\Program Files\CyberLink\PowerDVD\Language\Language.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvMediaCenter] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvMcTray.dll,NvTaskbarInit O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Sony Ericsson PC Suite] "C:\Program Files\Sony Ericsson\Mobile2\Application Launcher\Application Launcher.exe" /startoptions O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [iTunesHelper] "C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NBKeyScan] "C:\Program Files\Nero\Nero8\Nero BackItUp\NBKeyScan.exe" O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ avast! The other svchost.exe file (In the C:\windows\system32 folder is a valid windows file) Then reboot, then you should be able to turn system restore back on

2008-11-02 03:21:00 | Hmmmmm...... you're right. should svchost be running on startup? the avast keeps bringing it up on startup and asking if i wanna block it. Any yup mupd1_2_1165664.exe is gone like you after an amusing quip. I'm not sure if there is even any dust.

2008-11-02 03:27:00 | Umm no, it shouldnt run on startup, but programs do use it Avast is an AV not a firewall, so it cant block it, but gives you options, what to do with it WHAT folder is svchost in? When Avast pops up?
