2008-10-31 02:29:00 | aaaargh, so many choices:waughh:, if i go for the asus 1GB gfx card, do i need to upgrade the psu?? | GameJunkie (72) | |
2008-10-31 02:34:00 | Stop. What's your budget? What games do you play? What sort of PSU? I suggest when you upgrade that you get more RAM too. 2GB goes cheap these days.

2008-10-31 02:40:00 | 200 at most , probably look at doing upgrades incrementally, ram first etc. games: cod4, race driver grid, BiA HH, psu: not sure what it is, any way to find out without opening case, have tried the net but not sure where to look thanks

2008-10-31 02:49:00 | You could peep through the grill and see if anything tells you. No harm in taking the side off. Can be annoying though. I suggest you leave it and save up a little more. You could afford a Geforce 8800GT at the moment, but an ATI 4850 is only $70 more, and will blow that out of the water. Fully worth saving up that little more. Just thought I'd check first, but your MoBo does have PCI-Ex16 right? Would be silly for us to tell you to get something you can't put in your comp.

2008-10-31 02:49:00 | Is your 19" LCD a 5:4 resolution or 16:9 (1440x900)?....96GT should be fine....I certainly would waste your money with anything less! | SolMiester (139) | |
2008-10-31 02:53:00 | SOlMieter: i think it is 16:9 | GameJunkie (72) | |
2008-11-01 04:14:00 | looking on newegg.com i have summised that i have a 300W psu. I assume that this will have to be upgraded for the grx, ram etc to run smoothly. ideas on how much Wattage that it should be increased to? thanks for all your help and ideas so far.

2008-11-01 09:40:00 | ~500W should be plenty for a single GFX card system. | Thebananamonkey (7741) | |
2008-11-01 09:45:00 | I don't know if it's available yet, but it seems the new Radeon 4670 is on par with an 8800GT, which is still a great card. And at only $155, you can't go wrong. | qazwsxokmijn (102) | |
