Go here and download this, every now and again you will get a reminder to update but it really is no problem at all. You have to give an eMail addy but that is no problem after all: www.freshdevices.com More to follow once you have got the exe. |

| 495765 | 2006-11-01 13:09:00 | Open FreshUI. Navigate to Windows System/Manage the Reserved QoS Bandwidth - set to zero. And there you have it. Maybe gilding the lily but that is as my wont. That is what gives me the killer downloads on dial-up. haha. If I have not given an adequate explanation please get back and I will endeavour to explicate further. |

| 495766 | 2006-11-01 17:10:00 | AVG Free 7.5 is not available to download via the update manger in AVG. Er...pardon me...but that's exactly how I got my update...on all three puters. Maybe it's a US-thing only, but the update came in automatically with a letter telling me about the discontinuance of the old version. As people wake up here in the network I have established for friends and relatives (not always the same people), I'll ask them if or how they got theirs. |

Muldoon was a lily grower :-) MS say "If the program that reserved the bandwidth is not sending sufficient data to use it, the unused part of the reserved bandwidth is available for other data flows on the same host." I'm on dialup too and don't notice any difference QOS on or off but don't have Windows Update running while doing other things. AVG usually tries to find a server close to your location, maybe DLs longer than usual go off-shore instead. |

| 495769 | 2006-11-01 18:55:00 | Wierd thing is, I upgraded to the paid version and on the first full scan it found 2 virus's and two keyloggers. I guess that's the difference between paid and free. Point to ponder still...... | Breezzee (2913) | ||

Point to ponder still...... Just the point I made in a thread started by me about a similar thing. "You only get what you pay for", which I think is usually the case; and I was taken to task by some IT technician from the Hawkes Bay, for my pains. |

| 495771 | 2006-11-01 19:56:00 | Wierd thing is, I upgraded to the paid version From 7.1 free to 7.5 paid? You'd have a point if you'd already done a full scan with 7.5 free and then the paid version found something else that couldn't be explained by a later virus definition file. |

| 495772 | 2006-11-01 20:11:00 | "AVG Free 7.5 is on the PCW Dec/Jan disc" Too bad that even the latest 7.5 install still needs a 4MB virus definition update after it's installed. Yup. Thems is the breaks in the exciting world of security software. At least it's not like Norton that'll give you a 20MB+ download after you install .... I wonder how much of our monthly bandwidth usuage is down to security updates? Calculate an average, multiply it for all PC users, work it out in $US and then slap that bill on to every scumbag virus writer/spammer. I'm surprise that in the US someone hasn't taken out a class action suit againts a virus writer/spammer to do just that. After all, if someone can sue the Rolling Stones for $51 million because they cancelled a concert .... |

| 495773 | 2006-11-01 20:38:00 | I see that the 7.5 installer exe has changed in the last day or so, perhaps the 4MB defs file isn't needed now. AV updates are small compared to the stuff coming out of MS. Software isn't patched any more but reissued whole. | PaulD (232) | ||
