2008-10-28 22:40:00 | I've got a PC that doesn't boot up at all. When powered up, the power LED on the front of the PC appears and then turns off after about 1 second. The power supply still runs. I've installed a new power supply & RAM but still no go. Nothing is displayed on the monitor. No beeps or anything from the motherboard. I disconnected the hard drive, optical drive, floppy drive only leaving the power supply plugged it, still nothing when powered on. I suspect the motherboard is at fault but wanted to get everyone's knowledgeable advice on F1 first. The motherboard is a Foxconn 760GXK8MC Socket 754. Cheers :)

2008-10-28 22:44:00 | Did you reconnect the ATX 12v adapter, when you replaced the PSU? If its got it on the mobo? If this isnt plugged in, it wont boot Thats what can happen (it turns off in a few secs, or its overheating)

2008-10-28 22:52:00 | The battery tests fine. Speedy - I made sure to check the 12v ATX plug first as I've forgotten to do that in the past. It's all securely connected to the board.....

2008-10-28 22:57:00 | I would check the CPU then. Remove the fan/heatsink and clean it. Then put some more paste on it. See if it makes a diff

2008-10-28 23:13:00 | I removed the fan, heatsink and CPU . Removed all thermal paste . Removed the CPU from the slot and re-inserted . Applied paste and re-attached heatsink and fan . Reconnected and powered up . . . . still no go . . . small funeral service?? | GR8Metal (14133) | |
2008-10-28 23:21:00 | Does it beep, if theres a speaker in the case?? If theres more than 1 stick of ram, leave one in then see if it boots. If it doesnt boot, remove it then put the other stick in

2008-10-29 00:26:00 | The motherboard has an on-board speaker which doesn't beep at all . The system only has 1x DDR400 module . I've removed the module entirely and booted but nothing . . . . . . no sound, no signal . . . . | GR8Metal (14133) | |
