I have a specific program which need to access the internet via port 61. Today, for no specific reason, it cannot access the outside world, if I "telnet www.xyz.co.nz 61" it comes with a message that it cannot connect. The internet is working as I can access others sites such as stuff.co.nz etc. Any ideas on how I can diagnose the problem and sort it out? Running XP Pro SP3, windows firewall off, AVG virus. Thanks in advance |

And what's the server you're trying to connect to? If I know that, I can check the port and see if there's even anything listening. |

I'm with (don't laugh) Xtra.
I know the server is listening, cos this particular application is installed on three of my comps at work, one works perfectly and the other two don't. The network is functioning okay and the internet is working as I can access different sites thru the modem. |

OK, try telnet to osiris.erayd.net (209.239.208.44) on port 61. You should be greeted by a postfix mailserver - if you're not, then something is wrong with your firewall settings. As far as I'm aware, Xtra doesn't block any outgoing ports except for port 25. |

Lovely. The test port on my server is now firewalled again. |
