497241 2006-11-08 19:57:00 Well no. It wasn't published was it.

I'm hardly anonymous, masses of people know who I am here. And I have contact details listed too.

I say we should do a Uwe Boll (www.cinematical.com). Get you and Juha some boxing gloves, video the match, load it up to the PC World website as a podcast.

Heck, because we're a business (just like Telecom) we can even charge on a pay-to-view basis. I see the makings of an ongoing business stream here ....

Doubtful, but maybe Juha will finally shut her up :)

497243 2006-11-08 23:44:00 I have to agree here,I miss waiting 2 months to have a phone connected.

You used to have to wait a lot longer when it was government owned.

The surplus was only 3 billion,, but telecom is worth in the region of 10 billion, so they couldn't afford it. Not unless they somehow devalue the shares by hamstringing them, similar to the effect unbundling had.

If You include their "goodwill" Telecon is worth about 2 hamburgers (2 months old burgers but only eaten once by an old dude with no teeth.)

497245 2006-11-08 23:54:00 I don't particularly care who can get what.
Anyone who thinks a company should spend a million dollers,or whatever, on installing lines that will earn peanuts, must be living in Cloud Cuckoo Land.

Ten years ago we were paying $5 an hour to enjoy the marvels of "dial up" internet. And no 0800 phone number either.

Another point of interest. If the Govt. hadn't sold our phone service, the poor farmer would probably have his broadband, and we'rd all be subsidising him.

As you may have gathered I don't particularly like farmers.
If it rains for two days they are screaming about floods. If if doesn't rain they are yelling "drought". And either way they are screaming at the Govt. for a handout.

You are correct, in that things are steadly improving. There are a lot of impatient people on this forum who expect things to improve overnight. 4 years ago I had Jet Stream which was 256k download speed and 400MB cap for over $100 per month . After that it cost 20c per MB that you went over the cap. Those figures may not be 100% correct but they were something along those lines. So things have improved a lot, and once it is unbundled things should improvve still, but probably not cheaper.

497246 2006-11-09 01:33:00 Its apparent I haven't followed the rules:

Live in town/city - complain about slow broadband and/or data cpas - OK.

Live in country - complain about no broadband or immensely expensive satellite broadband - shut up and don't dare to complain because its the persons own fault for living in these areas.

Telecom don't need help in justifying the state of the telecommunications infrastructure, they do a good job of it all by themselves.

Most rural people with no broadband are aware of the issues and just want a bit of sympathy. At least I thought so.
