497349 2006-11-08 03:25:00 Hi C. Re: There is always an option when thinking of voting for this scurvy lot,but it requires a modicum of thought. Too deep for me old fruit. Modicums of thought are not for after lunch at my age.
That's OK S,I suspected as much.

Liz seems to lack logic too.
If perchance one entered parliament with half a brain, you would be set upon by those that have a vested interest in staying there eating at the trough, who have just a modicum of a brain and that is not nice!.

497350 2006-11-08 05:38:00 TV1's CloseUp has polled individual MPs on this & will have results at 7pm tonight - according to a promo they've just screened. Laura (43)
497351 2006-11-08 07:54:00 There's a public campaign against the bill at http://www.keepit18.co.nz somebody (208)
497352 2006-11-08 08:01:00 What happened with the idea that one of them put forward about keeping the pub age 18, but raising the take-home age back to 20? Greven (91)
497353 2006-11-08 11:24:00 That wasn't in the bill in its current form. It sounds like they'll review the bill, and possibly try it again with the 18 for pubs and 20 for offies. roddy_boy (4115)
497354 2006-11-08 13:53:00 There's a public campaign against the bill at http://www.keepit18.co.nzWhich was evidently written my some immature under-18-year-old-pimply kid.
For example...
"In addition, the idea that simply splitting the drinking age so that 18 year olds can buy a drink in a pub but not to take home is silly."I think the idea behind that is to keep drink-serving within the law; which means that intoxicated persons may not be served alcohol. It makes sense that take-home sales would defeat that objective.

Personally I'm not against the 18yo age limit. But I'd sure like to see some consistency in government policy regarding ages of consent, eg right to buy guns, serve with the military, concensual sex, voting, obtaining credit etc.
