| 717047 | 2008-11-04 00:15:00 | Hi Guys I have always used freeparking and they are around $40 a year,However I noticed an ad in the PCWorld for domains4less where .nz domains are $22. Has anyone used them? are they any good? and is the $22 for every year, or is at a offer to get you to signup and then the price goes up? |

They look to be just a reseller, perhaps with discountdomains.co.nz One warning with using discount domains, as I have used them myself. If your domain expires by mistake (eg. you forget to renew it), they will charge you a redemption fee of about $25 if you want the expired domain renewing, and it is mentioned in their questions pages. Most other .nz registrars don't do this for .nz domains, but they will for international domains. |

It would be hard to forget about renewal. You are right, however people forget to update their email address (eg. they change ISP or they ditch one for a new one), so often they never get the reminder emails. ALso spam filters can wrongly casify the reminder emails as spam. I have seen that happen a lot. You will also see in domain registrars terms, that the reminder emails they send are just a courtesy and not a requirement, so they don't have to remind you. It is solely up to the domain owner to know when their domain is due to be renewed, and to organise it's renewal before the exipry date with the registrar. |
