716539 2008-11-02 01:18:00 Hi everyone,
I have a great game Microsoft Fury 3 which I want get back into. My joystick is a Microsoft Sidewinder Pro with a gameport plug. My current machines do not have gameport sockets and I found that most Joysticks today are USB. I bought a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro and after installing it found that Fury would not recognise it for calibration. Was told of converters from Game plug to USB but can't find one to fit the pin configuration on the Sidewinder stick. Fury 3 needs 246 colour graphics to run proprly so I have to convert back to that setting. (I am using XP Pro). Worked best under 98SE, should I install a dual boot system? However this won't fix the joystick problem. Any suggestions? Apologise for any spelling mistakes as a recent stroke damaged my optic nerve and I have lost peripheral sight in both eyes. The game is one of my many methods to retrain my sight.
Cheers,
Ken

You could get a gameport addon perhaps. Or maybe its time to get a more up-to-ddate game to play?

Or go to a console for gaming. Xbox or Playstation?

716542 2008-11-02 06:44:00 I know with my MS Sidewinder Pro J/S I have had for 10 years and still going strong, I got a USB adaptor cable which I use now as I have it plugged into a USB port.
You could try contacting MS NZ.

716545 2008-11-06 21:50:00 Thank all for your suggestions. Adapters available were not compatible with the pin configuration of my joystick. I purchased a Celeron box with an Intel Eastern motherboard and loaded 98SE. By finding the Intel Easton drivers, I was able to install all the integrated parts of the motherboard. The joystick and the game are working perfectly but I am still haviving trouble with the correct driver for the sound card. I am now reusing skills I had long forgotten.
Cheers and beers,
Ken
