497647 2006-11-09 00:16:00 An old pool-hall term means they sunk every ball and the others never got a chance...it applies to the mid-term general elections here in the US too.

In what had been a Republican-run and controlled executive branch has now turned into a wrung-out and even more unstable government. About 15 states went Democrat and they (the Republicans) have lost a solid majority.

Since the president has had full party control of both the houses here, he could pretty well dictate what was happening on either side of the aisle...but maybe that has come to a halt now.

The only question is: Is this for the better. ie., will he get vetoed to death?

OR: will this be chaos as the world has never seen, ie., a ship with two diametrically opposed rudders?

We are currently living under Marshal Law (The Home Security Act) and the writ of habeas corpus has been suspended in the Military Acts has just recently been signed into law and affects all citizens when and if they are under Marshal Law...under which we all are now.

Let's see where this goes now!

Actually, that's democracy, with the voters expressing just enough dissent over the way things are to limit the power of the government.

"chaos as the world has never seen" -- not that's what happens when a president has too much power ....

497649 2006-11-09 00:53:00 Whats the bet it doesn't come close to the mayhem, bloodshed and death visted on the countries liberated by the USA over the last 50 years.

Might as well hang Bush and let Saddum go......

497650 2006-11-09 01:08:00 But are you surprised at this result, Joe?

Even from this distance, it appeared that Bush & Co had become unpopular enough for voters to decide to send a message in the obvious way.

And several news sources said Republican candidates were trying to distance themselves from him & didn't want him to appear on the platform with them.
With that reversal of the usual enthusiasm for having presidential help in your campaign, those candidates obviously saw him as a liability rather than a voter magnet.

So wasn't the writing already clearly on the wall?

Edit: Remember the old saying - Opposition parties don't win elections; governments lose them.

A Biblical reference when talking about Bush, how appropriate.

497652 2006-11-09 01:25:00 I expect that the dissent between the parties is enough to keep the aisle seats as a no-man's zone for the next 2 years .

There's a little more perspective in this article ( . zdnet . com/2100-9588_22-6133535 . html?tag=nl . e550" target="_blank">news . zdnet . com) .
And here . ( . us . reuters . com/top/news/usnN08321707 . html" target="_blank">elections . us . reuters . com)

The left-wingers had to lean to the centrist position to get elected, and they might turn coat and just go back to lefthandland afterwards . . . that's what the word on the news is right now .

Politicians are fence hoppers and in the wind types who go with the general hot winds . . . but the last group of non-listeners in power were running pretty well with a get out of jail card . . or so it seemed .

I am not politically motivated . . . don't even vote and I exercise my right not to vote . I am just reporting from where I sit without a venue of political polorization .

Suspect that there is going to be a lot of debate and failure to be able to implement ANY reforms . . just a lot of heat and stymied legislation from now on .

497653 2006-11-09 04:41:00 You don't vote?

Shame on you.

Sure it's your right not to.
But if everyone took that route, how would any wrongs get righted?
