718041 2008-11-06 02:37:00 Hi there. I've a strange problem with a brother MFC8820. I cannot install the scanner drivers. I downloaded drivers from the Brother site (both full software & driver files only), it will print, but the scanner hardware will not accept/install the drivers either from a manual driver install or via the software install.
Ive tried this on 2 PC's,Win2000 & XPSp2.

The scanner hardware is detected when I plug it in, Win will not accept the downloaded drivers.
When I browse to the downloaded driver inf I get "the specified location does not contain information about your hardware"

I have a feeling it may be due to both PC's only having USB1.1 ports. Brothers
FAQ & help via the web page is VERY vague whether the scanner drivers are USB1.1 compatible.

718042 2008-11-06 03:18:00 Did you install the drivers FIRST?? Before plugging the printer into the USB port? Speedy Gonzales (78)
718043 2008-11-06 03:19:00 You are meant to install all software etc first before you plug it in.
Then when it tells you you connect it. Try that.
