717400 2008-11-04 17:40:00 After formating my hard drive I lost the driver for my HP LaserJet 2200D (2 sided) printer. HP web site only offers a generic 2200 series driver (2 sided printing does not work). Last year it was available. Prior to formating my hard drive I copied ALL my files on C: on an externat drive. Question: Can I copy the driver from the external drive to my computer? And if so, where are the drivers stored so I can find them? rory1000 (14274)
717401 2008-11-04 17:45:00 the hp site does have 2200d listed there as a download have you tried it and I have used it the past beama (111)
717402 2008-11-04 17:59:00 I trust you but am probably too thick to understand.

When I go to the HP website I click on SUPPORT & DRIVERS I then click on DETECT and it lists my 2200D. I then clicked on DRIVER DOWNOLOAD. I am then asked to select my operating system. I click on XP. I am then taken to a screen of various drivers, non of which are for the 2200D. My options are for the PCL 5e and PCL 6. WHERE AM I GOING WRONG?

717404 2008-11-04 18:42:00 That is exactly where I went. When I click on 2200D I am directed to a screen where I need to pick my operating system. When I click on XP, the 2200D is not one of the options. In fact, no matter what OS I choose, the 2200D is not listed.

This is why I was hoping to find the driver on my external drive. Any ideas?

717405 2008-11-04 19:15:00 The site that Beama linked is spot on - they are the right drivers - you select your OS , and the driver page appears, they are the 2200 series driver Meaning various models of the printer all use the same driver.

All you do is download the PCL6. as an exe file, double click it to extract to the C: drive (default) then when you install the printer Via the add Printer Wizard, follow prompts through - select Have disk - and point it at the folder. here (h20000.www2.hp.com) is a description of what each driver does, PCL6 & PCL5e

717406 2008-11-04 20:17:00 Thanks for all the help, but, it's not helping. I already have the "all purpose" driver. That driver was automatically selected when I turned on the computer and it found new hardware. The only problem is, two sided printing is no longer an option. I need the specific driver for the "D" printer inorder to use two sided printing. rory1000 (14274)
717407 2008-11-04 20:19:00 Since I can't get a new driver off the internet, is it possible to get off the copied files from my external drive??? rory1000 (14274)
717408 2008-11-04 20:32:00 Are you sure you dont have the correct driver?, I have loads of HP printers and most of the time, the various diff models such as D T N are just selected options from within the driver to enable the different options... SolMiester (139)
717409 2008-11-04 21:28:00 Since I can't get a new driver off the internet, is it possible to get off the copied files from my external drive??? Should be as long as you backed them up - the default location for the divers to unpack is on C: drive.

Other wise have a read of This forum (forums11.itrc.hp.com 353475&threadId=1040299) - same problem - cut through all the crap and go to the third from Bottom Post - if that doesn't work -- Happy reading through the rest. :(
