717370 2008-11-04 09:28:00 Hi,Vista Home Premium
Picasa 3 has been working great until recently.
I have lost all photos in picasa although they are still there okay in My Pictures where it normally copies them from.
I have reinstalled picasa but it cant find and copy the photos from My Pictures
Now when I download photos from the camera, they go into Pictures and then Picasa instead of My Pictures, so the camera cant find My Pictures either, so I dont think it is a Picasa problem.
I have tried a restore to before the problem but no joy...appreciate ideas

717371 2008-11-04 10:56:00 To make sense of this you have to get rid of the idea that that your images are 'in Picasa' or that they are copied into Picasa. Picasa just references the disk where you stored the images. Sounds like they are in My Pictures so go to Tools/Folder Manager and click on My Pictures then click the Scan Always button.

Now go to Tools/Options/General and low down you will see it asks for where the imports are to go. Select My Pictures.

I hope I have interpreted your problem correctly.

That's what I would do, uninstall Picassa completely then re install it. I still use V2 on XP with no problems

717376 2008-11-06 07:54:00 I have reinstalled Picasa several times as per my first post, I have tried Picasa 2 also.
I have tried importing the folder My Pictures from the import function in Picasa but wasnt able to find the folder.
I can find the folder and photos using start/explore etc. etc.

717377 2008-11-06 09:48:00 Try un-installing Picasa completely, running CCleaner to get rid of any registry entries that might be left and manually deleting its folder from the Program Files folder in your C Drive.

It could just be that even if your un-installing and re-installing it, some weird preference or option is being used every time. This will give you a clean start.

717378 2008-11-08 04:00:00 You haven't changed/added users have you? Each user has a My Pictures and you could be looking at the wrong one. (Just grasping at straws but worth a thought). linw (53)
717379 2008-11-09 04:48:00 Well thanks guys, I have tried all suggestions plus a few more like deleting the Pictures folder hopeing Picasa will go back to sourcing from My Pictures, but " SHE" spat the dummy on that trick so I have gone with the flow.
If my camera will only load into Pictures, even though the destination folder shows My Pictures , and Picasa will only source from Pictures I decided to copy my 30GB of photos and movies from the My Pictures folder to the Pictures folder and all is sweet again.
You will note that I copied not moved my photos to Pictures as "SHE "at any time may change her mind and decide to revert back to the way it was.
You can't live with them and you can't live without them....Cheers
