| 717288 | 2008-11-04 17:54:00 | Use XP all the time and Ubuntu linux only time I get to play on Vista is when a friend brings me a comp with a problem. I've never upgraded for the simple reason it costs and until XP doesn't do what I want it to do I will stick with it. I'm not against Vista just lazy and broke I guess, someone mentioned being up to date well all my XP machines are as up to date as any Vista machine. I echo that I just want it to work like my car when it doesn't work then it's time look at it. If it ain't broke don't try to fix it is my motto | gary67 (56) | ||

| 717291 | 2008-11-04 19:56:00 | I've won a copy of Vista Ultimate in a competition and also Office Professional 2007. Must do something with them - I have procrastinated too long. We have one laptop and one PC. Originally was going to put Vista on laptop, but that would mean taking off the existing XP Professional. What I think will do is to add a second hard drive to the PC (if Mrs Misty lets me spend the money !) and move the data to that. Then use the existing partitions on the 'old' hard disc for the operating systems and programs. That means having XP Home on one partition and load Vista on to the other. The PC should hopefully cope okay. It has a 2.20Gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 processor. RAM is 2Gig. HDD is a Seagate 80GB 7200 rpm. I have slightly less than 36GB of Data at present and only use 20GB for operating system and programs. Sound fine ?? Misty :illogical |

| 717294 | 2008-11-04 21:05:00 | I personally wouldn't advise replacing XP with Vista on any existing computer, The biggest and probably only noticeable "benefit" of doing so would be a significant loss of performance. | Metla (12) | ||
| 717295 | 2008-11-04 21:10:00 | Yes i never though i would say it but its Vista for me I was an XP lover but i am running 64 bit vista with 2gigs of ram and it flys It is only a PentiumD 3.2 ... There was certainly no loss of performance - I personally think it ran faster than XP. Mike. |
