| 718001 | 2008-11-06 08:20:00 | What about this ? (http://hugin.sourceforge.net/) Its free And it works. Here is an example using Hugin. (www.flickr.com) The interface is difficult/tricky/not yet user friendly to use, but it produces decent results. Note the dark edging on the top of the photo. | 718003 | 2008-11-06 19:27:00 | Thanks for the help guys and you offer to do it for me Speedy. :thumbs: Well, the update is, I found an article on the Web on how to achieve what I wanted using Gimp. It just involves starting with a Canvas size wide enough and adding your shots. Then you can fiddle each individual shot and then Export the image as a .jpg file. After that you can simply crop it to clean up the outside edges and the job is done. However, the quality of doing it that way is not great, so Im interested in trying Hugin as suggested. Only problem is, having downloaded it, I cant find how to install it. :confused: Win Zip asks if I want to open the file to a temporary position and I agree. It then shows over 1100 files but I cant find a Setup/Install file. I think the problem may be that the downloaded file is a .tar.gz which may be confusing Win Zip. It certainly is confusing me. :) Great links Blob & Paul. :thumbs: |

| 718004 | 2008-11-06 23:46:00 | Are you using Linux because a .tar.gz file is only for Linux, not for Windows. Just checking. | beeswax34 (63) | ||

| 718006 | 2008-11-07 02:27:00 | Gimp is available for XP as well as Linux (both me with ubuntu and my partner with XP have it) but you have to specify yr OS before you down load it. | kjaada (253) | ||

| 718008 | 2008-11-07 03:41:00 | PTGUI is the user friendly version of Hugin. Not free. Other than that I have used the Canon software and it does it .. as long as ou are doing frames to the side and not up and down. It's the software cos it will need to alter your images to make fit. Unless you have high end equip like tripod panorama head and shoot them at a 50mm or longer so you avoid distortion. On that note even if you have great software like PTGUI with a wide lens it can still fail to get a good pix .. cos you get mismatches from the distortion. N. |
