498507 2006-11-13 08:37:00 I guess. However why not have tolls with someone esle then? Orcon, Slingshot?

Or if you don't want a landline at all but do want broadband - Woosh.

There will be more choices coming available as more of them do it.

Woosh have very limited coverage and it is patchy service. Also their service is poor. I emailed a number of times through their website and never got a reply. ADSL is better faster and more reliable, as long as you are with a good ISP, and not on a 'GoLarge' plan atm

498508 2006-11-22 20:59:00 I am a Broadband and Toll Call customer with Ihug. Now I want to change my phone line account to them too.

BUT they tell me I can not do that unless I also sign up for other addons that I have no earthly use for. I don't have a cell phone and I never phone anyone with one either. I don't care about call waiting or any other one of their extras. But I have to pay for them anyway.

So my Tolls will be going back to Telecom. And I will have to find another BB supplier and stuff you Ihug!

I am about to join you JJJJJ.

I am currently with Ihug on an old Bliink Lite 256k/128k 4GB plan (along with tolls) and have been a member with them since their infancy back in the 1990's.

A couple of days ago I phoned them to ask about upgrading to their BB2 plan and was told that it would be $50 per month. I asked about the $10 discount for having my toll account with them. Was told that the $10 discount would not apply unless I purchased a bundled package of home phone & calling plan at an additional minimum of $30 per month. No thanks, I told them ... I don’t spend $30 per month on tolls but I would be happy to maintain my tolls with them as a stand-a-lone and did not require any additional add-ons. Ihug were unable to offer the $10 discount for just retaining tolls and they would not make any exceptions to this, they told me. I said that I would now review my options with other ISPs who were offering exactly what I required (faster BB +competitive tolls) at no addition to the base cost I was currently paying Ihug.

Ihug used to be an innovative company but it appears all to have turned to custard once the Aussies bought them and seem to have gone even further backward now that Vodafone have purchased them. They have now become divorced from market reality. Their inflexible position and their ‘stuff the customer’ attitude will surely see a lot of loyal customers walking.

I will be an ex-Ihug customer by early next week.

498509 2006-11-22 21:49:00 Hi JJJ*. If you have the time, read the article by Russell Brown in the Listener, week 18-24 November 2006, at page 54 on ihug's faults and problems. Scouse (83)
498510 2006-12-05 00:27:00 Well, I did it! After 10 years I have quit Ihug.

I sent them an email outlining my concerns (per earlier post) and my intention to explore other opportunities given their inflexible approach. I never got a response to the email so I also followed through with a phone call a couple of days later. The guy on the phone didnt seem too interested in anything, was still in no position to make any concessions and was adamant that I had to have my landline and a calling package (which I didnt want and didnt need) with them in order to qualify for the rention of the existing $10 discount. Needless to say their "stuff the customer" attitude was the last straw.

I have moved elsewhere, got the same base price with a faster speed and higher data cap, tolls at a cheaper rate and a $10 discount off the total cost.

498513 2006-12-05 03:51:00 I hope everyone will become ex-ihug customers. That way they'll realise what morons they have been. qazwsxokmijn (102)
498514 2006-12-05 23:18:00 Keep leaving Ihug.

I'm more than happy to stick with them.

Went to change plans the other month only to be told by the guy on the HD that I was better off with the plan that I had.

That was service :)

498516 2006-12-06 10:56:00 What I even hate the most is you need to have a phone service before you can use ADSL. I don't use my home phone, but I am force to pay extra $40 odd bucks a month so that I can use ADSL.
And you pay that monopoly for that privilage.
