I mean 1.3 gig, my god have they never heard or zip or tar?

Anyone ever had a bigger download?
What next 5 gig virus validation files?
If the clients have bandwidth Microsoft will use it!

717235 2008-11-04 08:21:00 There's a 19.5GB file of an HD-DVD movie on the torrents somewhere. pcuser42 (130)
717236 2008-11-04 08:42:00 here is hoping my download can resume under ff3 (if it fails halfway) or I will spit the dummy and throw a wobbly at ms yet again.
I thought maybe ms did it on purpose because i am using ff for this download.
I can see the logic now...

if browser = 'Mozilla' then
download(extrabigcrapfile#9832147293847238) 'that'll teach the b@st@rds
else
download(crapfile#123098712309812340924)
endif

717237 2008-11-04 09:13:00 Errrrrr Did you actually look at what the download is
The Windows Automated Installation Kit (Windows AIK) is designed to help corporate IT professionals customize and deploy the Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 family of operation systems. Its not for the average home user to use, if you get OEM software from the suppliers, you get the DVD's that have those types of files for free - its designed for system builders and people who deal with many PC's - not one at a time. - 1.5Gb is nothing, blimey I do that amount as an average on a daily basis.

717238 2008-11-04 11:36:00 Yep,
But I installed vlite and it was required to run.
I want to have a proper install dvd for vista.
Bloody thing linked to it as well so it was just a click away... plus 3 hours...

717239 2008-11-04 19:26:00 I think our concern at 1.5Gb downloads says more about the (sad) state of of our broadband infrastructure than it does about M$'s update sizes.

As Wainui says, 1.5Gb isn't that much - if you lived in part of Japan for instance, you'd have that down in a matter of minutes. :p

717240 2008-11-04 19:30:00 The older versions of vLite didn't require this - 1.1.2 & below. The new versions of course will have extra features.

As for downloads that big, I would always use a download manager in case I get disconnected.
