499122 2006-11-14 10:41:00 Oh Darn, It sounds like you have saved the picture at a very low resolution, or else Irfan view was set to save them as jpegs with maximum compression. If that was your only copy of the pictures, they are well and truly kaput now (unless you view them as thumbnails). If they are still on the memory card, try saving them in a format that does not compress. Each time you save a jpeg, a bit more detail is lost; even on the highest resolution. R2x1 (4628)

499125 2006-11-14 10:59:00 What ya need is software to rescue files off the mem card. Do not touch or use your mem card now. Nomad (952)
499126 2006-11-14 11:02:00 Always copy files. To retain quality, save it as TIF format, b/c if you resave in JPG it again recompress the file as again .. as the nature of JPG.

Try to go to your mem card and see if they got a software to download.
One software is called Photo Rescue I think. Google it.

Not to start a debate, now there are advantages of film. Than worry about IT and to make 2 copies on CD/DVD and to annually check if they still work.

499127 2006-11-14 11:11:00 Hopefully others can advise. Most of these are not free incl, photo rescue. I have Lexar software that came with the card when I got a professional model card. Nomad (952)
499128 2006-11-14 11:45:00 I didn't leave a copy in the memory card Ninjabear (2948)

True, but deleting a file, or cutting it, (as in cut and paste) does not actually delete the file, just alters the first bit of it so the file can be overwritten by the next file you save. If you have not written anything to the card, it can possibly be "un-deleted" by one of the programs mentioned above. DON"T WRITE ANYTHING TO THE CARD UNTIL YOU RUN THE UNDELETE UTILITY.

Here's one that is free. www.roadkil.net

I hope that clears it up a bit for you. Good luck.
