| 718434 | 2008-11-07 07:21:00 | Ah, my apologies, I was a bit too brief with my question. I'm a devoted fan of DVD Decrypter but it won't handle the backup of some DVDs. It hasn't been developed since 2005. Dvdfab2 has good press but the latest version which I installed a few days ago (Dvdfab HD Decrypter) seems stripped down. Having said that, it did make a backup of a DVD which DVD Decrypter couldn't read. Its just not as nice to use. |

It hasn't been developed since 2005. It hasn't been developed since Macrovision leaned heavily on the author and made him an offer he couldn't refuse. There were helper programs that compensated for the lack of development but these were also shut down. |

DVD Decrypter will make an ISO which you can burn as many times as you like. However I imagine you mean saving the DVD Shrink file to burn more copies. I'm relying on memory here but I think the answer is yes. In DVD Shrink (or maybe Decrypter) there is an option ticked to delete the encoded file after burning. Untick that and you'll be able to burn at your leisure. Doom9 is your bible. :D |

I have now tried DVDFab HD Decrypter (the free stripped down version), and Ripit4me.exe, but with only one success which occurred the very first time (DVDFab)). Don't know what happened but all encoding after that resulted in DVD Shrink not being able to open the ISO or TS_ files. In fact DVD Shrink wouldn't work on anything at all. After many tries and quite a few hours of experimenting, I did a Windows Restore to an earlier point. DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink now work seamlessly but the files saved from experimenting must be corrupt because they still won't open. Had to delete them cos my HD was chocca! :nerd: I'm guessing the new programs removed too much and if I understood all the settings, they could be tweaked. For now I'm just relieved to be back where things work - most of the time. Thanks people for the PMs and help (you know who you are!). |
